And some of those 30 end before it starts getting real good.

I understand solving a puzzle to reveal the shrine, but there were way too many freebies and tests of strength

mainly just the quests before them. 30 good shrines seems high but been 5 years since i played. definitely agree too many tests of strength and other shrines that were just too basic or similar.

i feel like the sheer amount of them really hurt their effort on the actual dungeons. they were all pretty lame. couple cool things but no enemies or much of any kind of danger in them besides the spirit/poison whatever things. hoping botw2 if they keep shrines limit it to like 50 and hopefully have 6-8 actual good dungeons. personally i want more of the old style with dungeon weapons helping you to progress farther or at least bring back the hook shot and some other things.

I'm pretty sure we all had an A on our tests of strength by like... the 30th test of strength. No need to keep testing us...

There should have been 10 freebies and 4 tests of strength, maximum

Everything else at least a tutorial or a 2-4 part puzzle

i would trade in every single shrine in the game just for a single good classic zelda dungeon. shrines fucking sucked, but quite a few were fun to find

This inevitably turned me from the game after 50 hours or so. I just was done with it.

Yeah shrine variety is a thing the sequels can improve on for sure.

Even something simple like theming them after the area of the world you're in would make a big difference. The idea of them is to basically spread around a puzzle room from a traditional dungeon into the open world which is an overall good idea but dungeons all had their own themes so hopefully they build on that concept more.

divine beasts visually are bland, but it is really cool to be in a giant moving building. I liked how you could feel the whole dungeon moving and turning when you activate it

There are only 20 tests of strength, and nearly every "freebie" involves a quest outside to reveal the shrine. I guess I can understand thinking there are too many shrines overall, but the vast majority of them utilize unique puzzles, either inside or out. And like the Korok seeds, there's no real need to complete all the shrines unless you're an obsessive completionist.

Thise tests of strengths could have been consolidated into something like the Cave or Ordeals or Savage Labyrinth. The enemies were the same everytime, some just took more hits to kill and did more damage but if you get the pattern down they were all pretty easy to take down without even getting hit

they are just as bland as shrines visually and are all basically the same premise, spatial reasoning puzzles involving moving the beast parts in order to find switches. the bosses are also lame

the only good "dungeon" in BotW is Hyrule Castle
