CCR's version smokes and I like how well it translated to a rock setting, even if the 11-minute running time can be off-putting for some listeners (personally, I like the workout). Smokey's version is pretty good, too, although I'd still put it third. Gladys' take, as much as I love her voice, doesn't do it for me, because it ditches that crucial organ vamp to make it more upbeat. Sorry, that's just not how the Grapevine works!
