Greetings CEpeople of Earth. As you may or may not know, Coca Cola has released a new line of carbonated beverages, Coca Cola Creations. These will likely operate as promotional and limited flavors of sodas in the future to come. The first flavor in this line is called Coca Cola Starlight. And it's actually pretty good.

Upon cracking open the bottle I noticed a much lighter fizz than I am accustomed to with traditional Coca Cola. Since starlight is not attempting to impersonate existing flavors like my personal favorite, Orange Vanilla Coke, I had no idea what to expect. Anybody who is familiar with the Coca Cola Freestyle in establishments like Wendy's or Noodles, inc will know that the company has been playing around with possible flavor combinations to put a new spin on the beloved soft drink for years now.

The latest concoction is inspired by the vast emptiness of space yet has a full, robust flavor that can't be described and can only be tasted to believe. If I had a gun up to my head and was forced to articulate it's complex flavor profile I would say that it's an amalgamation of a strawberry cream soda lightly mixed with subtle caramel tones and a slight lime accent.

The artwork on the bottle is bright fuchsia and purple with a sprinkling of sparkling white stars along with the well known Coka Cola logo and text that reads "Starlight Limited Edition" and "Space Flavored". According to Dr. Thomas Jones an acclaimed astronaut and scientist who completed four spacewalks has noted that the eternal void of our universe has properties that give space a smell that is similar to welding fumes, black gunpowder or the carbon on burnt meat. While this carbonated drink is the furthest thing from licking the inside of a gun barrel the flavor allows the mind to speculate on what is being tasted much as we would speculate on our own existence while gazing deeply at the stars.

Compared to some of my past reviews, Coca Cola Starlight is leaps and bounds better than most of the grog and swill that I pour down my gullet for the sake of your entertainment. It's fantastical concept gives off a sense of whimsy and is so far removed from all the traditional flavors of soft drinks it's almost like drinking an intergalactic potion from another world.

Coke is doing some pretty wild things in promoting this new flavor and if you haven't heard of these promotions don't feel bad because they are quite obscure. They are partnering with Ava Max, a performer that I've never heard of and don't care to investigate. What is interesting is that they are offering an augmented reality app where Ava Max is performing one of her songs in an AR environment. And that's pretty cool. You can check out this hokey little gimmick here:

In closing, this gives me hope that the Coca Cola Creations line will not only offer wild new flavors but shows that the cultural staple is not afraid to experiment and still has a few tricks up it's sleeve. Starlight is lotted to be in stores for no longer than 6 months and the Coca Cola corporation plans on pulling this fantastic new flavor off of shelves by August this summer. Try it before it is gone forever.

Starlight isn't a flavour.
And that's not how we spell "flavor".
