I need to write a community nutrition paper where I pick a particular demographic (children, elderly, low income, a specific ethnic group, pregnant women) and a particular issue (diabetes, obesity, healthcare, food accessibility, gestational diabetes, iron deficiency), look at the most recent Healthy People 2030 goals, research the topic and its controllable risk factors, things being done to combat the issue, do a community needs assessment where I live, and write about ways a community dietitian could help my particular area combat that issue. I think I'm picking pregnant women and gestational diabetes, and working in a bit about prenatal care and health insurance coverage. I started looking at different Healthy People objectives and found a few general research papers/articles about gestational diabetes. And I went to school to be a DTR (dietetic technician registered). I only needed 2 more years and my internship to get my bachelors - but in 2024 dietitians change to requiring a masters.
