Gary Johnson met with a large group of Judges when he was running for President, and they essentially told him they're okay with what he says about drugs except for meth. They basically said meth destroys more people and lives than any other drug they see come into their courtrooms.

Gary seems to think if we decriminalize hard drugs like cocaine, people won't do meth if they can afford legal, cheap cocaine.

As I was saying yes meth should be legal. You know what ruins a person's life more than meth? Throwing them in jail after they've been addicted to meth.

Drug addiction needs to be handled as a health problem not a criminal one.

Yeah that holds up to be honest. I've just lost too many friends to meth to think it should be legal ursaring.

I don't fully support legalization, but I do support decriminalization.

Putting people in prison rather than treatment for drugs is dumb, but I also don't want to transition to a world where advertisers could sell genuinely harmful drugs to people and we were all chill with it.

If the same kind of big money that drove the opioid epidemic got the legal blessing to just straight up sell and advertise actual Heroin I don't see that going well.

I'm always conflicted because I think drug dealers are scum of the earth, but it's someone's choice if they do drugs. But I just hate the idea of people being able to profit off human suffering.

If a pharmaceutical company kills people, we are supposed to hold them responsible. So how could it also be legal to let someone run a profitable business on producing and selling drugs that intentionally harm people?

Meth is another drug that should stay illegal at least on a recreational scale.

Fun Fact: Methylmercury is the cause of Minamata Disease and the Basra Grain Disaster.

Portugal decriminalized drugs in 2001 and its worked very well for them. Worst drug of all is alcohol and how did prohibiting that work out? Decriminalize them all.

I'm not sure how much detail I can go into without getting modded but I don't believe cocaine is as bad as its reputation would have you believe.

Like as far as mind alteration goes it is definitely on the same level as weed but not as bad as lsd or psilocybin, but on an addictive level(taking in to account I've never tried pure) I've seen people become addicted to it but that could be because of the things it gets cut with.(which would be drastically reduced if regulated.)

Alcohol is so much more harmful than weed, and its not only heavily advertised, its celebrated. You dont see cigarette ads anymore, you will never see ads for Cocaine if it were ever legalized, so this part of your argument is irrelevant.

Joe's argument still stands though? As you said alcohol is heavily advertised/celebrated, so other newer drugs *could* become pushed/encouraged. Think about two decades ago when prescription drug ads in general were almost non existent
