There is no such thing as a vegetable in botany. "Vegetable" is solely a culinary term that can include any part of the plant, including the fruit; therefore, tomatoes are factually a vegetable even though it is botanically a fruit. Same goes for avocados.

Depends on the context. A pepper is also a fruit from a scientific perspective but you can go fuck right off if you use that as a reason to put it in a fruit salad.

Scientific fruits can be culinary vegetables.
