You seem to get along well. She's nice to you in private and public and with your family. But any time any of her friends are around she turns mean and constantly insults/belittles and degrades you in front of them. Her friends also join in and are mean to you, they clearly don't think you're good enough for her.

Afterwards she's always apologetic and says she doesn't mean it but they're her lifelong friends and always used to gossip. They don't like you so the social pressure to conform is too much for her.

Thats the thing. If her and her friends just like to bust balls, fine. So long as they arent the type who can dish it out but not take it.

The problem is, the scenario specifically specifies that her friends dont like you and dont think youre good enough for her. Thats enough right there, as she is either going to have to get rid of them or break up with you.

There is no way that a relationship could work if her best friends are constantly trying to undermine you and figure out ways to break you up.

There's not going to be any 'always' to it, because the first time shit like that happened I would dump her. Honestly, I'd probably just leave her at whatever gathering she's pulling this sort of abuse.

I'm ok with that, me and my friends grew up shit talking each other all the time. I'd just give it back to them as hard as they give it to me. She'd never have to apologize as I would just join in.
