it sure seems that way with every job I had. no boss I worked under seems to care about you as an employee.

Yet im told by others to find a normal boss who cares about me as a person and would make accommodations for whatever I needed in the job like time off, work schedule changes due to family commitments, etc.

Not sure if a normal boss (in their terms) who bends over and gives you whatever you want exists

It's pretty rare to have a boss that isn't like that. You can get good supervisors, but the actual bosses rarely give a shit about you beyond your abiliryto show up on time and get the job done.

There's a reason why the most successful businsessmen tend to be sociopaths or at least have sociopathic tendancies.

If you can't crush people under your boot and not care if they suffer or die then you can't exploit them for profit

my first boss was an absolute legend, but this was just a small signage company. heard nightmares from friends with more demanding jobs.

When I was manager I cared about my employees but I also didn't like being manager and quit because of the expectations put on me from above so \_()_/

My place does. It's essentially a selling point to underpay though. Would you rather make more money and be treated like shit or less money and treated like a human being or generally left alone and not bothered? We don't have much trouble finding employees, so the market has spoken.

All bosses have bosses they answer to as well

My boss is pretty nice and reasonable. Her boss too.

This is a good sign for where you work tbh. If they cant pay at or above market rate they are at least doing something else to be attractive to employees. There are a lot of places that will pay shit and not provide good work/life options and those companies are really hurting. I manage about 150 people right now and try to be as flexible as possible and offer different work options depending on the position because we have to pick where we spend money to be above market.

The first place I worked my boss was pretty good. She was demanding but she wanted me to genuinely succeed and get the best out of me and everyone else there. The upper management and organization was a mess though and she was always fighting with them. Now that I think about it most of my superiors have been great but the organizations have varied in quality from good to terrible.
