Unless I'm misreading or misunderstanding this, they seem to be people who claim to be bi just for attention?

This kind of stuff is starting to get like certain music genres where there's subgenres of subgenres and the whole thing becomes confusing.

The former is just looking for attention or trying to sound different than heterosexual.
The latter sounds more normal. Somewhat. At many points of my life I tried to convince myself I was straight or stop being bisexual.

These people are just looking for attention or are trying to take the piss out of bisexuality. People in denial are just people in denial even if it isn't healthy.

Same. I've been there many times in my tweens-early teens. After a while I realized there's no shame in it and embraced it. Same for other things.
