While not to the level of narrative and intrigue of Tie Fighter, it shows they could do a "Tie Fighter"-esque game for consoles without it being impossible.

Now I want a remake of Tie Fighter with this engine.

This is true. Loving the narrative so far for Squadrons.

I have that in my library, but I never took the time to get into it. Maybe should start it.

I have it for my PS4. With the psvr to go with it.

It's a wonderful experience in VR but was sorely lacking in everything else to keep my interest going.

Hell, Battlefront 2 has more fulfilling starfighter content

Wasn't one of the battlefronts capable of VR for the starfighter sections?

I liked it for the VR aspect, but the multiplayer made me very angry. I played it with my brother, and we realized very quickly that nobody has any idea how to group up and watch each others' backs. Once your squad gets wiped, there's a 90% chance your allies will just start trickling in one at a time instead of waiting for another spawn wave to cover each other.

The controller layout is fucking trash. I literally can't even.

Only the first game had a free downloadable VR mission to play in. You can still use a VR headset though with BF2 for an enhanced first person perspective that enhances aiming and steering.

Not the same because it's still a flat image but least the immersion is great for airspace combat on Yavin, Kasshyyk, etc.

I think it works as well as it can. Nothing beats a mouse and keyboard, or potentially keyboard and flight stick

Well yeah, you can change the button mapping on a PC to what ever you wish.
The Ace Combat series has the best controller layout of any flight game I've played. And should be the "default" flight mapping for controller.
