I can't tell you how I'd react if a man made a really shitty joke about my wife on an international broadcast. I'd like to think I wouldn't act like a fool, but I don't think anybody can know for sure until they're in that moment. We're all human. Chris Rock has been leaning hard into "Cancel Culture is bad for comics, actually" bullshit for a while, and with a tour starting soon he gets a great story that, to him and his audience, proves his point. He'll be just fine. Will Smith spent his best actor acceptance speech, the absolute pinnacle career achievement moment of his profession, apologizing like a toddler who pulled pigtails in the sandbox. He paid an immediate price and will be relentlessly mocked for a good long while. The internet gets memes for all eternity.
