In the 90's we all worshipped Bill Gates - if you remember - he was the posterboy for "success" in America. Of course, we all remember the Simpsons episode where Homer starts an Internet company and Bill Gates comes and "buys him out" - that is the TRUTH of how Bill Gates acts. His goons even broke Homer's pencils.

In the 00's we had Steve Jobs who was quite literally deified for making the iPod. People used to wait in line around Best Buy for their first iPhone or iPod back in the day. We all loved Steve Jobs.

Fast forward to today and you have all of Twitter worshipping Elon Musk. And for what? The guy is a legitimate TROLL who bitched about lockdowns for 2 years and asks "Should I sell stock?" on Twitter. Tesla's are shit cars for one, and for two - he would be NOBODY without his father's money and minerals.

Billionaires are people just like you and me - but worse - because they can do whatever the fuck they want: have Epstein islands, destroy people's lives, outsource jobs, or steal IP (looking at you Amazon). Billionaires fucking suck.

To summarize: A warehouse worker in Amazon works harder on a daily basis than Jeff Bezos does. These billionaires can suck my cock.

They use their money to buy politicians or the media (or they own the media outright); thereby they use both of those to create propaganda claiming that billionaires are good people, good for the economy and good for jobs and whatnot.

They basically manipulate americans through them into loving billionaires.

Because it's easier to pretend you're just like them and just suffering a temporary set back than it is to admit the entire system is corrupt and hopeless and no action you can take in your life ultimately matters, no one cares and you're completely unimportant.

"Maybe you can be like Jeff Bezos" is an easier pill to swallow than "Maybe someone somewhere might still remember you existed 7 years after you die."

I get your point but using the Simpsons "Buy him out boys!" as an example is pretty funny.

The joke there was that Homer was expecting to be bought out which was what Microsoft was known for. Instead they trashed his house.

Because long ago the "American Dream" was codified as this idea that if you worked hard enough or had a certain skill, then you too could become rich & famous.

It's so seeped into the culture that many people still point to athletes and say, 'see, it can happen to you too!' and the way so many slurp billionaires is just an extension of that.

Or look at the Kardashians that millions are obsessed with-- they're just a bunch of rich assholes who got famous because one of them fucked a c-list rapper and had a 'sex tape' released back in the days where such a thing was still relatively new & therefore more of a big deal.

And the only reason that sex tape made her famous is because she has famous parents/family lol
