I feel like practically none of my teeth are in good shape. But instead of being embarrassed enough to get them fixed, Im embarrassed to go to the dentist even though its their job. I have insurance (need to recheck the coverage), so I need to suck it up before it gets any worse.

Dental anxiety is real.

I've been fighting dental problems since my early twenties after my parents stopped taking me to the dentist when I was 12. Finally got out from under their thumb and had an extended family member take me and my teeth were fucked and I've been fighting a losing battle ever since.

I have the same problem. My teeth appeared in ok shape but I knew I probably needed fillings on some of them. But a few years ago I went for the first time in like 6 years, and I got like 9 of them filled/repaired. And wow it was so worth it.

So just take brush and floss to the best of your ability, and then go in.

Don't be like those people who say "Well theyre gonna clean them when I get there, why would I brush" -_-

Just go. I recently started going after having a severely broken tooth causing me intense pain, unfortunately, I couldnt afford to keep that one but it motivated me to get the work done on the others before its too late.

I had a conditioned aversion to dentists after a series of traumatic experiences as a child, but theyre essential in order to live as your healthiest self, so you gotta suck it up.

I think Im going to start looking into it for real, but Im pretty sure I have a separate insurance card for dental, and its not in my wallet :x.

Im sure I can get a replacement, but not knowing my Member ID is gonna make it irritating.

Better go ASAP. I needed multiple crowns and had to pay 10+ grand out of pocket because it was considered cosmetic. >_>

Your dental insurance should also be tied to your social security number, Ive never needed the actual card.

Yeah the website said I could probably use my SSN, it didn't seem to work.

How long has it been since you've been to the dentist?

I had the same problem a few years ago. I hadn't been to the dentist in over 5 years. The longer I went the less I wanted to go because I was worried about how bad my teeth were.

When I went I needed 4 fillings and one crown. Honestly wasn't as bad as I expected to be, and since then I've gone to the dentist twice a year and my teeth have never been better.

I love going to the dentist. I wish I could go every 3 months instead of 6. Nothing better than getting your teeth cleaned

A few years for me as well, but considering I hardly went when I was young, Im a bit afraid Ill be decidedly worse off than you. Guess I can only know by going.

I'll always preach dental health. I didn't go for nearly 18 years, despite knowing I had issues with my gums.
Teeth were actually ok, but they had to clean the shit out of my gums and scrape and all that. A 3 hour process with my mouth open the whole time.
Everything is so much better now but I have to go every 12 to 14 weeks for maintenance. My own fault though.

i have a similar story. my teeth were bad. i had at least one broken tooth, a shit-ton of cavities and probably had to get at least 1 tooth removed...but i didn't want to deal with the possibility of getting dentures at only 29 years old. therefore i never went. but i finally realized the more i put it off, the more of a chance i would end up getting dentures...so i just went.

got my wisdom teeth removed, got one bad tooth removed, got my cavities filled and going to get braces on April 6. turned out a lot better than i thought. do it. you'll regret it the longer you wait.

Teeth pain is no joke. A bad tooth abcess is easily the most agonizing pain i've ever felt. Denist had to drain it before pulling my rotten tooth out and when he cut open the gum to get all the pus poured out it was the most soothing feeling in the world. Take care of your fucking teeth. It's worth paying for root canals if you are young.

Yeah, I get it. I hate going to the dentist too. It's best to fix the issues now, though, before they get any worse. Also, don't be afraid to get a second opinion if the dentist recommends a lot of expensive work.

does your dental plan cover adult braces? I know most dont, and I dont even want to imagine how much out of pocket it would be

Well I've tried scheduling an appointment. I'm afraid it'll end up super expensive, but it can only get more so in reality, so while I'm still living with less painful rent, might as well try now. I'm nervous because I don't really know how to tell if a dentist is going to try to overcharge me, or do more than they need to.

Okay the first place I went for is backed up until August, gonna try a few more >_>. Ive been to the dentist before, I know the wait times can be a while, but that seems excessive.
