banshiryuu 04/01/22 12:00:04 AM #1:	Greetings all, and welcome to Video Game Music Contest IX/XVI!! If you're returning to us fresh off the heels of last year's VGMC15, then welcome back! If you're here for the first time then allow us as your hosts to be the first to tell you what our little yearly shindig is all about. ... *What is VGMC?* Video Game Music Contest (VGMC for short) is a single-elimination tournament of video game music that we run right here through GameFAQs forums. The community comes together to determine a pool of songs to populate the bracket with, and then run daily head-to-head matches to slowly determine the best of the best of the field. *The community, you say? Does that mean I can help get songs into this bracket?* Of course! This process of finding songs to use in the tournament is known as the "nominations phase", which is what is starting right now. Anyone and everyone can participate, and the more the merrier! There's a few rules and formats you'll need to follow which will be laid out in the post right below this one, but we'd more than love to see what you can bring to the table! *How exactly does the song pool get decided then?* Everyone who participated has a single song that they can "nominate", which can be either a new song or supporting another song people have posted. You have a thirteen minute nomination period that can used to post whatever song you like, and once nomination time is over, all the songs will enter a bracket where they fight to the death!!! Songs with more than one nomination will get byes depending on the amount of individual nominators. *Where can I talk to people about the contest?* We have a dedicated channel for VGM on the Board 8 discord, which is linked in the first post above! What are those? * We found out relaxing eligibility sucked, so now it's super strict! ... NOMINATIONS PHASE Nominations Rules and Guidelines * You have a total of one (1) nomination which can be used either on a song that has not been posted before, or a song already suggested by others that you like. * This 1 nomination can be a double vote. * Under no circumstance will you be able to use more than 1 nomination; unless you currently reside in Newfoundland, you get 0 because that place doesn't exist. * When you post your nomination, it's locked in! No take-backsies!! ... Song Eligibility and Game Limits * You may only nominate a song that is up to 23 seconds long until the loop point. * If the song has a BPM of 256 or higher, this is shortened to 17 seconds. * That's it.
