Streaming is a ripoff

Netflix was great when it was $8 a month for DVD-by-mail plus streaming a bunch of B-movies and forgotten TV shows.

It wasn't shit until everyone and their mother started their own streaming services to jack all their content back. Combine that with the fact that the prices have gone up rather than down and yeah it's not hard to be annoyed

It wasn't always shit. It started going to shit around 2014-2015 or so. Which admittedly is a pretty long time now, but before then it was great.

Netflix has just as many good-great shows as any other streaming service; problem is theyre responding to competition by raising prices without adding any value

I unsubscribed because I wasn't using it, but even then I don't think its a rip off, its like a fraction of what cable costs.

Its still better than all the streaming services except HBO Max. That just goes to show how badly everyone else is doing

Its 2022 and the $10 version doesnt even have HD streaming

its a fucking joke that they offer that as an option when every other streamer is doing 4K by default at this point

for real. say what you will about all the different streaming services, even if you have enough to be paying a comparable rate to cable (which would mean basically having netflix, hulu, hbo, disney, peacock, apple, and probably more, all of which is unnecessary), you're still getting the actual shows/movies, not sped up, with no commercials.

check in to a hotel. you'll be quickly reminded how fucking awful cable is.

This is partly just because shows and films have gone down in quality while anime has gone up in quality as is found free very easily usually.

In addition to youtube, twitch providing more free content.

Netflix has a lot of k-dramas I've been interested in. That and I'm watching Pokemon Journeys and several stand ups. I guess its great if there's something you want on there.

Don't forget how easy streaming services are to cancel. Two or three clicks and you're done. Cable companies force you to call, and then hang up on you, transfer you endlessly, or just sometimes tell you they canceled your service, but don't actually do it.

I watch enough on there to justify the subscription cost. I also subscribe to like 8 others and don't really know what I pay, it just comes out of the bank.
