And what do you do when someone offers you a ride and their car looks like this?

This is my car. I hastily shove trash into a loose grocery bag whenever I have a passenger

No car right now, but its fitting when I do have a car. Not always the case, but it does get like that. It happens when you don't care much about tidiness and you drive for a living.

Not quite that bad but the kids still make messes but I throw things away and not let them collect.

Nope. My car is 5 years old and looks brand new. My house is a mess but my car is always super clean.

My truck use to get really bad. But my boyfriend always helped me clean it. He was good at it even now, I sometimes get more stuff in. But then I go to a dumpster to through it all away. Except clothes and stuff

And I would take the ride, still a little trash doesnt bother me. Though, the driver would normally take it off the seat Or say to toss it on the floor

My commuter car is a bit messy, but not that bad and not food. I never leave trash in my car. It's mostly tools and paperwork and supplies I need for work. Some kids toys scattered in. More clutter than mess if you'll grant that distinction.

If I was getting in someone's car like that I'd just push the trash that's on the seat onto the floor and sit down

my previous car, sort of. my new car I'm trying to keep up with the "broken window rule" and keep it more or less perfect at all times, though it's starting to get fairly dusty and I need to go over it with some wipes or something.

The back seats are full of stuff, but it's actual stuff, not trash. A pillow, a blanket, a snow broom, a coil of rope, a box of tissues, a bottle of motor oil, insulated bags for the groceries, etc.

I don't know how people can do that and live with themselves. My car is as clean as the day I bought it. There's a can of hand sanitizing wipes in the cupholder and a small waste basket hanging behind the passenger seat. I don't permit filth in my vehicle.

Nah I'm too much of a neat freak. My coworker used to give me rides home before I got my license and I love him for that but his car has to be one of the dirtiest things I've ever seen. Trash everywhere you can think of, horrible smells, and the seats were always soaked with coffee and milk stains so I had to sit on a plastic bag. Some days I just walked home which took 2.5 hours. Just ugh

No, I don't keep trash in my car, it always gets thrown out once I am near a garbage can.

However, there is a layer of dust on pretty much ever surface that doesn't get touched. And the floors are dirty/muddy. I vacuum the interior in the summer.

I grew up with cars like that, garbage always piled up on the floor. It became a thing that I hated and was super embarrassed by. So I have never allowed any of my cars to be like that. No garbage, no clutter.

I have declined rides from people with garbage piled in their car like that. I tell them that I appreciate the offer but will find another ride.
