With the franchise turning 45 and the premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi coming in late May, I have begun a chronological rewatch. Normally just the movies on their own is one marathon with the TV stuff being separate, but this is a task to say the least.

This is what it consist of:

The Phantom Menace (32 BBY)
Attack of the Clones (22 BBY)
The Clone Wars Movie (22 BBY)
The Clone Wars (22-19 BBY)
Revenge of the Sith (19 BBY)
The Bad Batch (19 BBY)
Solo (13-10 BBY)
Obi-Wan Kenobi (9 BBY)
Rebels (5 BBY-0 BBY)
Rogue One (0 BBY)
A New Hope (0 BBY/0 ABY)
The Empire Strikes Back (3 ABY)
Return of the Jedi (4 ABY)
The Mandalorian (9 ABY)
The Book of Boba Fett (9 ABY)
The Force Awakens (34 ABY)
The Last Jedi (34 ABY)
The Rise of Skywalker (35 ABY)

The Clone Wars was also aired out of order chronologically speaking, but here is the order list:

I have rewatched The Phantom Menace. I enjoy all 11 live action movies, but this one is in the bottom three for me in no particular order.

The placement of The Clone Wars, Revenge of the Sith, and The Bad Batch was tricky as the Siege of Mandalore episodes happen just before, during, and after Revenge of the Sith while The Bad Batch starts during Revenge of the Sith.

I was sticking with the canon stuff. I may squeeze in the Boba Fett cartoon that is at least on Disney+ between ANH and TESB.

Yeah. I had questioned the Ewok movies, but I am not sure if there is anything in them that conflicts with Canon as they fall under Legends. I just know they are between TESB and ROTJ.

Probably that or after ROTJ. There's a brief scene of an ewok playing with a toy AT-AT, and everyone's speaking common by the second Ewok movie.

Just finished my Rebels re-watch last night (partially condensed - cut out some episodes from the first 3 seasons to focus on the main story) and re-watched Bad Batch a few weeks ago.

I supposed I should watch the Clone Wars movie at some point. Just never heard anything good about it, lol, but it's the only one I haven't watched.

So excited for Kenobi, but Ahsoka's show has been the one I'm most looking forward to.

Rebels is really good, but there are a few episodes (The Call from season 2 for example) that aren't as great as others.

The Bad Batch has been pretty good so far, and I am interested to see what happens in season 2.

Kenobi I am excited for, same for Ahsoka (I imagine Thrawn shows up here).

I started Attack of the Clones last night and got to a bit under the halfway point. The chase in the beginning and the Obi-Wan scenes are always highlights at this point in the movie.

The intent was about 250 years later or thereabouts, with Wickett being there for marketing purposes handwaved away by "ewoks live a long time" or something.

All they're really good for anyway, is getting Wilford Brimley into Starwars media.

I did end up watching The Clone Wars (movie) last night.

I... can certainly see why it would be a major letdown at the time, lol. As "a new Star Wars movie!" and introducing you to this animation and some of the characters... yeah, not so good. Having already watched the show, it was basically just a long episode of that. Not a particularly interesting one, just would have fit in fine; didn't love it, didn't hate it.

Kinda cute seeing the beginnings of Anakin/Ahsoka's dynamic, enjoyed the battles well enough. Never been big on the Hutts. Dooku felt a little heavy-handed/not the clever, interesting villain you usually get from him.

Yeah, that series was fantastic. Even as someone who didn't really get into Star Wars until a couple years ago - and thus have mainly just stuck to the current canon - I still hold that one in high regard. Definitely the best Grievous, a great display of Windu's abilities (and really, most of the main Jedi), and just impressive how well it bridges the gap between Eps 2 and 3 in a couple hours compared to the 7 seasons of the later TCW

So I looked up the movies just now and it shows that they took place during 3 ABY, putting them at the same year as The Empire Strikes Back, but continuity information suggests that they could be interpreted as in-universe holofilms. I will spoiler the following information that is from the Legends timeline as that is not part of Canon and for those that have not read it:

On page 155 of the novel Legacy of the Force: Fury, Darth Caedus goes to check on his daughter Allana in a secret compartment of the Anakin Solo, and he finds her sleeping as an "entertainment broadcast in which Ewoks spoke Basic and befriended shipwrecked little girls" plays on a viewscreen.

However, I do give credit for the movies (retroactively) introducing Nightsisters for the first time.

The movie is decent, but if I were to include it in a rankings with the 11 live-action Canon movies, it would easily be in last place.

As an introduction to The Clone Wars, I would not watch it first but the episode Ambush (Season 1, Episode 1) or Cat and Mouse (Season 2, Episode 16) and Hidden Enemy (Season 1, Episode 16) first before the movie.

The 2D cartoon, Clone Wars is pretty good. I think the biggest adjustment when I watched it last year for the first time in a very long time was a lot of the different voices (particularly Anakin) for the characters. Matt Lanter did a great job as Anakin in The Clone Wars and is the main voice I think of for animation for Anakin. Thankfully having James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan in Clone Wars is always great as he is the definitive voice for Obi-Wan during this time period.

I finished Attack of the Clones.

My biggest highlights for it are the Obi-Wan scenes, the chase at the beginning, the chase between Kenobi and the Fetts, and the Battle of Geonosis.

Cat and Mouse, chronologically the first episode of The Clone Wars is a solid episode with a good villain in Admiral Trench. The stealth ship was a cool addition and is basically a submarine in space. While Star Wars as movies were released out of order, I feel that The Clone Wars being released as such would have been a great enhancement.

The Hidden Enemy, the next episode is an underrated episode in my eyes as the clones try figure out a spy that is in their ranks. I enjoyed seeing Asajj Ventress, who's ultimate fate in Dark Disciple (one of the best books in Canon and I highly recommend it to those who have watched The Clone Wars) is something that I hope appears in animated form someday. With that being said, Clone focused episodes are among the biggest highlights in the series and really show how they are the heart of the series.

Always true. I finished The Clone Wars movie, it's enjoyable if seen as a few episodes strung together, but the prior two episodes in the viewing order are much stronger.

On an interesting note from the same episode, Shaak Ti's voice actress is Sniper Wolf. It's always nice to spot some ties to MGS in Star Wars (besides C-3PO with the red arm like Venom Snake) in terms of voices as there are others.

Also Bric, one of the bounty hunters in the same episode, is the detective in The Santa Clause who tries to get Scott Calvin to say his name in the "interrogation scene".

Supply Lines is a good episode as well. This one also happens to feature two voice actors that were in Metal Gear as well (Young Master Miller and Vamp specifically).

Also, Cham Syndulla being introduced here is notable as he is one of a handful of characters to have appeared in all three of the animated series and having the importance of being Hera's father too.

Rising Malevolence is similar in feel to Ambush in that it focuses on a member of the Jedi Council (Plo Koon this time) with three clones.

The difference is mainly a larger setting in space and an Anakin and Ahsoka focus as well.

Dooku Captured is enjoyable on the first appearance of Hondo alone. Hondo makes every episode he appears in to be memorable, whether it is here or in Rebels. Hopefully he shows up in The Bad Batch or one of the live action shows. Considering Cad Bane made the jump from animation to live action, it is certainly possible.

Trespass is another top 5 episode of the first season. I am a sucker for snowy settings in anything. Also, some things seen in the episode are actually foreshadowing to the series finale that is Victory and Death, specifically in the ending. It's also harsher in hindsight to see how Chairman Cho acted towards the Talz. He would be no different than the Empire to non-humans, and would actually be treated as such by the Empire had he been around in that time frame.

Still, snowy settings are always a good sight in anything.
