I began my first Nightmare run on the new DOOM series in May of last year. I stopped playing in July, halfway through the mission called Mars Core. This was the last video I had uploaded.

I resumed about a week ago. Here is the first video I recorded since I began playing. This one is on the mission Taras Nabad.

Edit: Ah yes, I should mention. For the sake of having quality videos from an aesthetic standpoint, and adding a little more challenge to the run, I'm not allowing myself to use skills and techniques I view as "cheap." I don't allow myself to use the weapon wheel, because it looks tacky in videos, and temporarily slows down time, which is too beneficial to be considered fair play, imo. I'm also not using the rune that saves you at 1HP and slows down time for some of the same reasons as the aforementioned game mechanic.

Mars Core is such a bad ass mission. BFG 10k is an awesome track, and hearing "Attention: the Slayer has control of the BFG" and imagining how hard the demons are shitting themselves is just perfect

I'm actually beginning the last mission, Final Sin right now. Idk if I'm gonna go straight to the TAG dlc or do some slayer gates first.

Have you played the dlc? The first one is super difficult.

Yup. Beat them both on UV, although I completed all of the first mission, and ALMOST all of the 2nd mission of TAG2 on Nightmare.

I totally thought I'd be able to get that BFG ammo either during or after this fight. Luckily I didn't need it for this encounter, but it sure could have been usefeul in Nekravol - Part II.

I fucking hate empowered demons. Literally nobody asked for that, and the reward you get for killing one isn't worth the ass-stomping you usually receive from them.

I'm getting my arse kicked by the Icon of Sin. His first phase killed me over 50 times. I got to his 2nd phase, though.

Killed the Icon. I had 88 deleted videos fighting him, so he killed me like 85 or 86 times.

I think this is one of the more iconic checkpoints in the game.

I got lucky at the end. The Marauder got stuck in a glitch and killed himself.

I'm watching an NMG (no major glitch) speedrun so I can learn a thing or two before I begin the TAG dlc. It might make for more entertaining videos, too. I've noticed most of my successful attempts at the toughest checkpoints involve me running clockwise around the map like a scared child. I want to have some footage of me taking on these demons with a more head-on, instead of always running.

Urdak is my least favorite mission, for the music, scenery, monster spawnings, and the dumb boss fight at the end.

You know, I don't look anywhere near as pro as the guy who did the speedrun I watched yesterday, but there's no such thing as playing badly and making it through these bigger checkpoints on Nightmare. If you can successfully make it through, the result is gonna be fun video to watch, unless you just blast through two rounds of BFG or something.
