But I do. I can't create an account otherwise. I went through the process of creating an account, got a verification code in my e-mail and then I got to create a password. Then they don't give me access. They ask me for a phone number. That's bullshit.

Download Google Voice, attach your mobile number to a GV number, delete the Google Voice app, then use that.

I don't live in China and I believe the US would more likely do that than China.

No idea on the reliability compared to temporary email services, but there seem to be temporary phone number websites on Google. Though I'd check to make sure they're legit before using one.

Does that still work with Twitter? I read Twitter was blocking virtual numbers apps because of spam accounts. Also, doesn't that mean i'll be linking my phone number to Google?

they will say it's for the name of security (ease of account recovery, cutting down on fake accounts, etc.)

it's actually just so they have more of your data to sell

I already lost an e-mail account because I hadn't a phone number linked to it. This shit of having to give my personal details in order to have an e-mail is bullshit. I give my personal details to my bank or social security. Not to some greedy corporation who only wants to make money and will sell my info to whomever it pleases.

yup. 99% of the time my decision whether to use something or not will be based on if i have to give a real phone number or not.

Guess no Twitter for me. May that rotten social network burn. On reddit I can create as many accounts as I want without even confirming my e-mail.
