he "ascended". he didn't "rez into heaven" he rezed and then later went to heaven in physical form. IIRC there was one other prophet guy that did this too but can't remember who.

(but of course, note that this is all just a scam. "ascension" is just the way to explain away how he both resurrected and yet still isn't around anymore. and IMO in between they had some random guy pretend to be him which is why no one who knew him recognized him.)

Following the Resurrection Jesus ascended into heaven. That is not death. Enoch likely ascended as well but it's unclear what, exactly, 'walked with God' meant.

Fun fact: Not only does the Bible say that both ghosts and witchcraft are real (Witch of Endor), but there's the implication that reincarnation, at least at the time, was considered viable as the people wondered if he was Elijah having returned to the world.

After the end of the Second Age and the Bending of the World, "going West" doesn't mean literally going west, as much as you follow "The Straight Road" sort of upward, over, and into another dimension. At least part of the trip is described as traveling through the air as if on an invisible bridge.

It's why people sailing west from Britain eventually just hit North America and not magical heaven land. To sail West is an entirely different thing.

Or to translate Tolkien's mythos into "real world" speak, the world used to be flat and Heaven used to be a place on Earth (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOGEyBeoBGM), but then the men of Atlantis fucked everything up so God turned the world into a globe and hid Heaven in another dimension. So to get to Heaven you basically have to magically sail into outer space.

While it's uncertain where it actually was it seems to have been suggested to be in Babylon. It also is at least implied that she was a fraud who was actually horrified when she ACTUALLY managed to, at least seem to, summon the ghost up (though it may have been sent by God). Like, imagine you told someone 'I wish you got struck by lightning!' and they IMMEDIATELY did! Aside from the, ya know, massive noise from the bolt... you'd probably going 'HOLY ****BALLS?!?! DID I ACTUALLY DO IT?'
