A transgender psychologist who has helped hundreds of teens transition has warned that it has gone too far and fears many are making life-changing decisions because its trendy and pushed on social media.

Erica Anderson, 71 who is transgender herself told the Los Angeles Times that she is horrified that even 13-year-old kids are now getting hormone treatment without even meeting with psychologists.

I think its gone too far, said Anderson, who until recently led the US professional society at the forefront of transgender care.

For a while, we were all happy that society was becoming more accepting and more families than ever were embracing children that were gender variant.

Now its got to the point where there are kids presenting at clinics whose parents say, This just doesnt make sense, she said.

Anderson is so concerned, in fact, she said she is considering ending her own pioneering work helping teens transition.

I have these private thoughts: This has gone too far. Its going to get worse. I dont want any part of it, she said.

It's got nothing up do with wisdom and everything to do with a bygone generation trying to impose its values on a much younger generation.

I would support my children if they were trans but no pills or surgery until youre old enough to not need my approval.

I really can't wait until genderfluidity/neutrality becomes the norm and we can stop arguing about transitioning. It really is a stupid conversation to keep having when it could all be done away with by just disregarding the concept of two genders. Instead, people are hyper-fixated on the binary, and in doing so they just keep reinforcing gender norms we've spent decades trying to tear down.

Well shit then I guess kids aren't trans (but somehow cis) and they should all stay in the closet and we just need to really hope that they don't get depressed and kill themselves by the time Daddy Government tells them they are allowed to have a divergent gender identity.

I'm literally advocating the freedom for people to live their lives without having to make a choice, and dealing with the baggage and drama that comes with it, because there's absolutely no reason to exclusively identify as male or female anymore.

Like, seriously, give me 3 good reasons to maintain the hard concept of male and female genders lol. I'm really curious.

This is possibly the dumbest thing I have ever read on here, and that's really saying something.

For starters there are two genders. We literally have several billion years of evolution proving this. It's not some "social construct" that people made up. Out of the millions of species on this plant throughout history, every single one of them that is more complex then single celled organisms and uses sex as a means of reproduction is divided into two genders, male and female. As for humans specifically, well over 99% of all humans on earth are the gender they are born as. There is no "system" there is simply the results of evolution. We are a two gendered planet. Maybe there are species/planets out there that have more than two, who knows, but we do not.

I warned Captain Pinapple to quit it with his garbage, and he's now on my block list.

Would really be great if this site could get its shit together and start modding the rampant transphobia more.
