Like pokemon diamond and pearl on DS is listed as $75 on gamestop. Who is buying those at those prices?

I wonder if people buying it is rare/common and or at that price.

at gamestop? people who want it for nostalgia, mostly.

on the resale market? collectors, flippers, buy-and-holders, etc. I consider myself in this demographic.

My most expensive game is EVO Search for Eden, worth anywhere from $350-$400 depending on the condition.

Theres tons of games worth a lot but im interested in how lively the market is to actually spend that much on it.

Thats like me actively agreeing that that games worth that much but that i would never pay that much for it.

There's several old games that I no longer have copies of, that I've debated paying alot for.

But I haven't done it yet. Dunno if I will.

Ive got a buddy who was dropping hundreds on games several years ago because he is a collector and legit wanted to play everything he bought.

Thought he was a little crazy at that time, but everything hes bought has gone up an even crazier amount since.

I expect things will continue to stay steady or increase until the stock market crashes. Seems like the market activity is pretty similar in both areas, so to me that will be the point when one really affects the other.

I paid this like 10 years ago. Did a quick search on eBay and it's around $500 now

i used to sell on ebay a ton and would always go to local garage sales/thrift stores looking for stuff. it always surprised me how old games would be insanely expensive, so i'd usually do those as a bid/auction to make it more appealing.
long story short, even with games starting at like 20 dollars, bidders would go almost as high as the scalper prices. like, usually within 15-50$ of the highest 'buy it now' version, sometimes higher. it's ridiculous.
anyway, idk how many people are buying them at crazy prices, but i will say that out of everything i've ever sold, old videogames went the fastest, followed by niche toys like antique playmobil which also sold for a ton of money.
