They totally kinda have that in NY, called Delicatessens, not like the ones on the west coast, they will have fresh made cheese (mozz etc) and you can get stuff put on it etc kinda like what you were saying.

They also have amazing Meatball subs and tons of other yummy foods.

I miss delicatessens so much.

Cheese Ice Cream is actually a thing they tried out somewhere in Italy. However just cheese and toppings could be possible if you asked I suppose.

I tried to be a vegetarian once (once) *That is a jhonny dangerously quote btw*, because we drove from the bay area up to LA and passed Harris Ranch. Those poor cows. All crushed together, thousands and thousands of them, it was absolutely freaking horrifying. I felt so bad for them I actually made it 2 months without eating beef (That might not seem long but I ate like 90% beef up till then).

That place is HORRIBLE, there are no happy cows there, the shear amount of sadness and suffering is insane, it's so horrible I still cringe at the memory. There are probably happy cows in CA, but they are NOT at Harris Ranch Those poor poor cows:(

That is not how it was when I went.

It was about a decade ago now, so yeah, it might have changed. Maybe eventually enough people saw it and did something about it. I don't know, and I won't be going by again to find out. Almost wanna look it up just to get that memory out of my head and know they are not like that anymore. Maybe I will.

So it looks like there was protests about the conditions and they burnt down a bunch of parts of it, then it was shut down for unsanitary conditions back in 2013 or so (After I would have seen it).

Then in 2020 it was sold and has new owners etc.

So yeah, it looks like it's much different now, especially if you saw it after 2020.

Glad you inspired me to look it up. There is still so much suffering in the world, but at least that is just a little bit that is better than it was and maybe it won't weight on the back of my mind so much anymore. Thanks.

They actually made me take a tour of Harris ranch a couple years ago as kitchen manager of a steakhouse, and it was cool and it made me feel great.. until the tour extended into the slaughterhouse and against my will I was forced to see cows murdered and it made me incredibly depressed

but then I ate the cows and was okay again
