Sorry, but I have to disagree here. While the ideology is horrific toxicity is a matter of attitude.

Let's take a look at FFXIV and WoW as examples.

I don't have a specific community to point to, because obviously I don't frequent nazi communities. My assumption was that the most abrasive community out there was probably one dedicated to one of the most horrific ideologies ever held by humans. I wasn't assuming some polite group of nazis, who hide behind dog whistles, and can act civil enough to draw people in, I was assuming totally mask off.

Okay then... Which group is this then?

There's a whole bunch of evil groups out there like ones who advocate for complete racial genocide, discrimination, etc. But I can't name a specific one that is especially toxic online off the top of my head. If you got one feel free to say what it is so we can figure out how toxic it is. Not 'I think there's a terrible community out there that preaches horrible things'.

Thanks! Guess that's nearly 5 years ago now, damn. Don't have earrings atm and my hair is halfway down my back. I like making friends of all ages and being happy! Even though I'm depressed lmao

Art is pretty bad. I am wanting to get into oil painting, I have painted for years in other mediums wanted to do the primary palette(white, red, yellow, blue only) for oils. I created a post asking which colors I should use for each for various landscapes and I mentioned I already know what brand I wanted so I don't need help there.

About 35 out of the 40ish responses were all "thats the wrong brand" "Paintings are ruined if you don't use X brand" and "If too expensive, if you pay more than ___ per tub you're stupid" Mind you the brand I chose is one that been around for many, many many, many years and a lot of famous paintings were painted with that brand.

The Yahoo! "community", probably.

Some MUGEN communities. Well, most of them, imho. Happens when you base your whole life on a dead and forgotten engine. The MUGEN phenomenon itself turned into some sort of fake communism: practically a bunch of serial accumulators take some contents from a specific site (MUGEN creators' personal websites) and host it in a giant archive where they get "donations" for their uploads... all of which under the excuse of "preservation". Pathetic.

Other than that, I think Conceptart.org (now dead, turned into a Facebook group page) can be listed as very "abrasive", I remember that time mods themselves incited users to lynch each other's art... again, under another excuse: "self-improvement". I even recall one user from that place bragging about being a pedo, no joke, seriously. Very depressive.

But I could go on an on with many more... I'll just stop with these for now, lol

You are the first person I have seen mention MUGEN since 2006? 2007? I don't play fighting games but I always thought it was an interesting concept.

saltybet has arguably become bigger in recent years, which is the only time i see mugen anymore. maybe an occasional guest appearance on sajam's Will It Kill

CE has some real issues.

Reddit is the most passive-aggressive place on the Internet, IMO.

I'm not going to go clicking on that community either, but the controversies section of that link I posted makes it seems like they might be a pretty toxic place.

And you have. I am not talking about them as I have no clue how toxic, abrasive, etc. they are and have no desire to get involved in that community to find out how they stack up.

What is the difference between 'toxic' and 'abrasive' anyways when discussing this sort of thing? There's so many ways to be horrible it doesn't feel right to say that they're the same; but I'm not sure what the defined difference is?

Is anybody familiar with ip2alwayswins? IP2 is the IRL streaming network created by Ice Poseidon(or it evolved out of the original IP1 network). IP2alwayswins is the reddit-style community site for it. It's all about rumor peddling, pedo accusations, unambiguous bigotry of every form, and doxing. It's where the worst scum of the earth who watch IP2 streams hang out. Anybody with any sense in their head will find it extremely abrasive. That place is so bad IP2 had to create a competing community called Hellhole and it just became more of the same thing. Google it and have a gander.

And my thoughts are that I have not interacted with them, have no desire to interact with them, and as I lack both the knowledge of, and desire to learn about, the abrasiveness of their community (which is small regardless) I cannot say how they stack up. I don't see why this is such a difficult concept for you to understand.

Good question. Well it's a communities.win page, which looks like a reddit clone but where anything goes. I'm fully confident the people on there would be happy to watch someone get murdered on stream. They've gotten people assaulted before I know that much.
