I just beat the tutorial and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe it's because I haven't played a AA game since Apollo Justice came out but I missed this so much.

I love that Winston Payne is from a clan of prosecutors and they all look the same and the headband friend said at the end of the trial, the Naruhodo clan will be greater than the (Payne) clan for millennia! That made me smile.

Everyone said this game wasn't great but it's worth it for the payoff of 2 but I think I haven't played in so long that I'll enjoy it even if it's not great. Or maybe the tutorial is the best case in the game, who knows. Im about to start case two, so I guess I'll find out

I like the tutorial case, although it's a bit long for a first case.

It's the latter half of GAA1 that starts to slump. Case 3 is the highlight. Cast 4 is VERY, VERY BAD.

Alternate take: Case 4 isn't bad

it's not exactly good either, but it's fine

Case 3 is the best case of GAA1!

Every case is equally good or bad and you should make up your own mind without me priming you to feel a certain way!

Ok how come sholmes says that we're returning from Afghanistan if this game takes place in the 1800s and Afghanistan doesn't exist yet

Nevermind I looked it up it says Afghanistan was founded in the mid 1800s. I thought it was a modern country. TIL

That's not just some random dip in knowledge, the US has done lot to try and make people think Afghanistan didn't exist exist 1980s. It's not good for our PR!

The British and the Russians would also probably prefer to pretend Afghanistan doesn't exist!

Case 1 is pretty good.

Case 2 is pretty good so far. I haven't played too much. I definitely love Sholmes. And the Maya replacement is nice. Ballerina girl is very pretty. Not sure I like the detective much as a gumshoe replacement but he's nice enough.

I love the presentation upgrades compared to the originals. Fixing herlocks logic is fun and done very well

Case 2 beaten. Kinda disappointed there was no court scene, but it was still a good story and did a good job of establishing Naruhodos motive to become a lawyer. Also Ballerina sucks now. It is a little frustrating that his death was so "pointless", compared to how they established Mias killer.

Also I really miss unlocking art to look at in the chapter select after you beat a case. That was the reward!

Case 2 is a bit disappointing other than the introductions of Sholmes and Susato. There are a lot of references to Sherlock Holmes stories littered throughout the cases, which are cool Easter Eggs if you're a fan of the books.

I thought case 2 was okay. I like investigating the ship, I think it's a cool setting, and I like the introductions of Susato and Sholmes. This case is basically kind of the Sholmes Show which saves it. The 'murder' is super weird and the lack of a court scene is offputting though yeah.

I started case 3 today. Was too busy to play during the week

The omnibus in the trial is named the Phoenix Wright omnibus. That's so darn cute

The juror system seems interesting. I find it hard to believe no defense attorney in 50 years would just not use their right to question the jurors though? Some weak ass attorneys they got in Great Britain

Ahahaha after you get McGilded off he says that the fireworks they let off in the court are a real spectacle. That's hilarious

Great case. Apparently it's all downhill from here according to you guys, but...that was quality enough for me

nah it's not all downhill from there, but case 3 is just so unexpected at that point in the game and it's so good

Case 3 is the peak due to how strong a case it is.

One thing thats kind of weird to me is how short all the cases have been. One day, case 2 is all investigation no court, case 3 is all court no investigation. Hopefully they start doing some full fledged stuff soon

Susato is so charming. Every time she does her little arm punch in the air it's so adorable. I think based off first impressions I like her more than Maya. Maybe that's just recency bias though. I also spent a lot more time with Maya so Susato still has a lot to live up to!

Case seems pretty good so far but we'll see how it goes off the rails I guess. I just got to the end of the investigation so maybe the trial sucks. We'll see.

Or maybe it's just that jester looking mystery roommate. I only saw him for a minute but I already hate him more than any other character in the series by far. Worse than that chef in 3

Susato became my favorite non-Maya assistant by the time I was done

That shit was great, I don't know what you all were on about.

Roly and his wife's story was touching. The whole thing being a comedy of errors was played off much better than they did in case 2. I guess my complaints are that they're hamming up the whole 'Nipponese in Britain' thing a bit much for my tastes but I'm sure it fits the time period. Also the case was pretty obvious as to what happened after a point and there was a good bit of time where it was drug out a bit, but the presentation was good enough that it didn't bum me out too much.

Also that there's been a lack of any real villain and the games almost over. McGilded would fit the bill but he's dead, so...I'm not sure how I'd feel about them bringing him back. They'd have to do a really good job of it. But it's kind of the only thing that makes sense since the game hasn't really built towards anything else yet, so...I don't know. I'll reserve judgment for now.

That's not a complaint against that particular case in any case, so not important right now. I think I liked that more than case 3. It certainly felt more complete.

Oh yeah weird jester guy never showed back up. Hopefully he was only used for that one scene at the end of the investigation and we will never see him again. Though I somehow doubt it

I can't imagine liking case 4, but to each their own.

The culprit themselves, and every second of his testimony, and the entire circumstance around the case may be some of my least favorite content in all fo Ace Attorney.

This is also the jury system, which I don't like to begin with, at some of it's absolute worst.

I may dislike case 5 more for *other*, more nitpicky reasons, but case 4 is definitely what I consider the low point.

i like soseki, but I'm also just a real big fan of the literary fictionalizing going on across these two games in general

Mixed up the Bobby with the actual culprit. He was where most of my ire was focused.

I'm happy G1-4 did something for you because it's my least favorite case in the series

After playing it I'm so surprised at these responses. I thought the bobby part was really touching. And there was certainly nothing actively bad about it IMO besides maybe the level of difficulty

i think g1-4 had no business being as long as it was for a one trial) one investigation case, and the lack of true motive or villain was a disappointment

that said, i really enjoyed the historical trivia in it - i'd call it worldbuilding actually - and the class commentary

virtually every plot point in it is based on not having enough money, keeping up appearances, soul-sapping work, etc

in that sense it's one of the most human AA cases

Honestly I was happy for this to hit a system I own and a language I speak, I expected neither. Played through the entirety of it earlier this year.
