At this point, it's really only good for the nostalgia and glitches.

I have a lot of fond memories of Gen 1 and will always love it for introducing me to what is one of my favorite franchises, but in many ways it feels rushed and unfinished.

When it came out I was in 4th or 5th grade? I remember being a huge PS1 fanboy then and big into RPGs - and I remember wanting to not like it or play it just due to its popularity. I played Monster Rancher and Dragon Warrior Monsters instead.
It wasn't until my friends convinced me to play Gen 5 with them the day it came out that I got into the franchise. After Gen 5 I went back and played Gen 2, 3, and 4. I didn't play Gen 1 until they had this Pokemon MMO hack that I played with my gf at the time -- and woof, playing Gen 1 for the first time after playing Gens 2-5 really makes you see how flawed it is.

I prefer the Leaf Green/Fire Red remake better, but I still play Yellow.

why is the space between the 2 monitors censored

back in the day, it was basically one of the only games you could play portably that presented a full, huge, complete adventure. instead of just some simple arcade game.
