Some people rather binge a whole show instead of season by season. They cancel shows far too aggressively.

They learned they can make more money by making two seasons of a show and then starting a new one than by finishing a show. If somebody hasnt watched seasons one or two, they wont watch season three, where as everybody will watch season one of their new show!

Not true, unless its something I really really want to watch, I almost always exclusively watch completed shows. I work with almost no limit to down time so I watch shows to completion. I know many people in my social group who will not watch shows as it comes out either.

I'm not sure why NF doesn't just wrap shows up. It's both the creator and the network so it's not constrained by the normal challenges. They could easily give things an ending instead of creating shows that are unappealing for lacking a real ending.

I'll bet it has a lot to do with actor and production staff payroll.

When they start a new show, it's a bit of a gamble and lots of people will take reduced pay, or opt for earning off the back end on the off chance the show is a massive success.

If a show picks up a significant audience and buzz around it, the actors have a lot more cache to ask for more money. But every show eventually experiences a drop-off in viewership. Probably cheaper for Netflix to shit out a couple seasons of something and move on to the next project, and only milk shows that reach truly next-level "trendiness" (such as Stranger Things) and are more profitable as such

It sounds like if a show is a hit in the first season and its second season fails to draw in 50% of the same audience, it's likely it wont make it past a third or if its lucky fourth season
