Just finished it. Sorry to duplicate the topic I know another one exists, but it didn't have a spoiler warning in the title and I want to be extra careful.

I enjoyed the last 7 episodes to an extent, but boy am I sure glad that the car chase teased from the beginning of S4 E1 turned out to be completely and 100% pointless other than maybe as a purpose for Wendy to deliver a modestly interesting line to the priest about how "that was god's last swing at us and he didn't connect" or whatever she said. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against a car wreck happening, but for fuck's sake at least give someone a broken arm or something, don't just have everyone be 100% fine while also using it as a teaser for several months.

Regarding the final scene, I kinda wish the show ended with the screen cutting to black WITHOUT the gunshot bang. I would've been very keen on them taking a chance like that; still have Jonah there, he cocks the shotgun, cut to Marty looking down, then cut to black and roll credits. I would've been a little more enticed without the bang - keep me guessing, I don't know. I know more will disagree with me on that. But still, Jonah GOAT for saving the day and giving closure at least.

I know people are going to be pissed about Ruth not surviving. But in the context of the "Langmore curse," I'm okay with it because it makes sense. It aligns with the Langmore's family history. She was never going to be the one to break the curse.

The whole second half did seem to suffer from a pretty big case of "character says they're going to do thing (or tell someone to do thing), then thing is done one scene later." Seemed like a lot of off-screen magic took place over what didn't seem to be that long of a time period spanning the seven episodes.

Overall the show is an A-. Things got way too convenient in the last season as a whole for reasons explained just above. I never did understand a lot of the things Wendy was doing, however you do have to suspend some disbelief when her family is shrouded in the "history of mental illness" cloud, it's easier to understand even she didn't know why she was acting in certain ways. Doesn't make it great writing though. But it was great acting.

Bateman was great too. He was consistent the whole show - what did pique my interest though - when he was down in Mexico and acting as Navarro, was the idea that he was transforming into Navarro. I thought I was onto something when he beat the shit out of that dumbass honking at him in traffic, that was definitely a direct result of his time down in Mexico.

Bummed it's over but I'm glad it didn't try to stretch itself longer and turn into a shitshow like other shows do. It ended when it thought was natural.

I think the car crash was just to illustrate that the family is Teflon lol. Foreshadowing that they were going to be fine, while everyone around them burned. Very sad to see Ruth go, but also a tense and excellent final scene with her.

I enjoyed it a lot. It could have easily been breaking bad lite but they took it in a different direction and Marty had very different motivations than Walter, especially by the end.

Glad to see Mel come back at the end too, bc I liked the character and felt his leaving for Chicago kinda came without any resolution.

Biggest gripe was the Ruth getting her record expunged bit, bc that's absolutely not how expungement works in Missouri lol. You don't just meet with a Judge and she makes the call. Also I'm pretty sure I remember from earlier this season the female sheriff specially saying Ruth only had a misdemeanor record, but w/e
