I just got a text saying

USPS(in a dif font and bold if that means anything)
(Parcel Annulment)
Re-schedule:htittys://bit.ly/blablablanotareallink

I dont really know how to read the link checker i found but shows a screenshot of the site with a tracking number and a thing saying to re schedule delivery by filling out a form. Anyone know if it seems legit? I know nothing about usps and i dont wanna ask my mom yet if she ordered something cuz she'll wanna click the link and see what its about and possibly get herself fucked. Idk why she would use my number tho, but its not super unlikely.

I don't think I've ever received any sort of text or email correspondence from USPS in my life.

I assume any text I get is a scam unless it relates to something I know I initiated in the first place (by making a request or submitting some form online)

There are text scams for pretty much everything you can imagine.

I recently got a text saying that some company wanted to pay me $400 a month to drive around with a decal advertisement on my car. All I had to do was send them a copy of my license, SSN, and phone number lol. I just changed my phone number too, so you know it's some scammer just cold-calling random numbers.

USPS doesn't contact people like that, and definitely not by sending them suspicious URLs composed of random words with no other context.

If USPS wants to get ahold of you theyll send a letter!

No but for real we dont have a service to text you a 3849, or even a database of customer phone numbers.

This is like when you 'win' a $500 gift card from Walmart. Except you never signed up for any sort of raffle or competition.

Assuming the link you're asked to go to doesn't immediately give you some nasty, they'll ask for your cc info or something used to steal your identity.

Smart enough to ask makes you smarter than the idiots that are the reason scammers keep doing this shit.

I got the same scam in my email last month. Here's where the scam leads to (note that the word "tracking" is spelled wrong).
