People are always talking about how they'd love a director's cut of a movie that's an hour longer with all the deleted scenes, original vision, etc. But there are definitely movies where entire characters and subplots are added in via executive meddling to try to launch/capitalize on someone else's career.

Where are all the action movie directors' cuts that are 20 minutes shorter because the It Girl love interest is completely removed?

Romero's Dawn of the Dead-- he preferred the shorter theatrical cut over the Extended cut (aka the Cannes cut.)
