It sounds hilarious, but debate on gamefaqs, for a loose definition of "debate", is healthier, though not necessarily better. The flipside to our unstructured system is that there's not enough incentive to actually know what the fuck you might be talking about. There's techniques too that devalue somebody's argument, usually phrasing it in a way like "so let me get this straight...you're saying you want to thing your refuting" and it puts the focus on what they just said under a magnifying glass and heightens the flaws of the argument. Ive never seen a real debate so Ive obviously based it off movies and stuff where theres some portrayal of stuff akin to that but not nearly on that level.
