I guess the missing link in the topic title is what is violent crime per capita

if violent crime incidents are only 1% of the population anyway, this number isnt that surprising

Sweden has population of 10 million so that is still 100K committing that 63%. That is about the same as Covid deaths.

Also in the study: ~three quarters of all violent offenders were only convicted once or twice. Seems like the main point of the study is to try and identify risk factors for repeat offenders of violent crime, to better know where to aim preventive measures.
