dps dies - everyone universally acknowledges its their own fault

other healer dies - they should have healed themselves

you die - its the tanks fault

the tanks die - its the other healers fault, or, if you type wtf tank before the tank types wtf healer, its the tanks fault

theres no scenario where youre ever at fault for a wipe and can just chill out a bit and play whack-a-mole and maybe get to be the saviour if you save the group from the wipe in which case all the glory goes to you and not the other healer
or better yet, not heal the people who annoy you and let them die

And by ate, I mean they are what they eat

In my current dnd game Im a Dragonborn cleric, who is really picky about who he heals but has no qualms burning you alive with acid breath.

I think Im pissing my dm off a bit cause Ill cast sanctuary and bless the others, meanwhile Im practically invincible unless the mobs have good rolls.

sanctuary and bless are good spells. healing in D&D (at least in 5e) is generally not very good

Ive noticed. This is my first ever magic character, and I decided healer lol. I do plan to do necromancer related stuff, which was the draw.

They're a disgrace to the whole concept of being a healer

I'm personally a huge fan of healers because I like really dynamic roles where you're not just following some kind of move flowchart but actively reacting to what's going on.

They also almost always have instant queues in matchmaking because most people don't want to play healer.

That being said, healers are near universally blamed when something goes wrong so you might want to adjust your expectations on that one.

One of my guild's Shaman, who we all know as Day, has legitimately the best healing skills I've ever seen. WoW came out when he was like 5 years old, but he heals like he's a 30+ no-lifer. It's honestly amazing.

I get very frustrated when people stay in the tells, dont move, and then complain when they die. You dying from the deadly mist you wont move out of is your fault, not the healers.

Which is why many MMOs give healers a pull move to forcefully drag people out of danger.

Pulls are a dps loss so they blame you for that. The preferable option is to not heal them until they die and then proceed to not res them

Depending on the content, the preferable option is doing your job so that the party doesn't wipe and you blow 15 additional minutes resetting a fight because you wanted to make a point. I don't have the kind of spare time that lets me throw it away on meaningless stuff like trying to make a point to a complete stranger who isn't going to change their behavior.

If it is a troll I definitely didn't catch it, but only because I've played MMOs enough over the years to know that healers on a power trip are most definitely a real class of people that exist. "You don't pay my sub" and all that.

clerics are actually really strong blaster/controllers. Spirit Guardians is a fantastic spell and Spiritual Weapon lets them weaponize their bonus action

Yeah it should have been obvious because the opening post is literally the opposite of what happens with healers. It's why healer is my least favorite role to play lol

Yeah, Im really digging spiritual weapon a lot. Its a cool spell for role play and combat obviously.

It's the hardest by a mile. DPS and tanks usually have one to two enemies to focus on, healers have the entire party to worry about.

I find it upsetting that the White Magic role was designed around the healer just healing, but parties have always expected you to contribute whatever minuscule damage you can to make the raid go that much faster. If I wanted to do both offense and defense, I'd be a Red Mage. Pure DPS? Black Mage. It's not that I can't do DPS, it's just that I really love healing people and focusing purely on keeping the party safe and helping out if newbies are running dungeons I know.

It's the primary reason I dropped FFXIV.

No, healers get blamed because idiot DPS roles thinks 'We have a healer' means 'Don't attempt to avoid anything ever'.

If you're standing in fire and you die? That's your fault, assuming you weren't stunned/snared. I've gotten so much blame for dps who think they're a tank.

I try to keep everyone alive, but if you keep doing stupid shit then you're on an lower priority. Why keep blowing your major cooldowns on someone who's going to get themselves killed shortly after anyway?

Yeah Ive seen more than a few people out off by how damage focused healing is in FF. I can understand it being polarizing as much as I like it.

Friend got me into playing classic wow with him and honestly its a nice change of pace healing in that game
