Its a Vampiric survival game. Even so, playing it is giving me some Overlord vibes in how you start off sucky and build up your castle and empire. The boss hunting reminds me of Maneater, except in V Rising there are LOTS more bosses with even more crucial reasons to hunt for them. The rest is your basic survival game but you are a fricken vampire so you will acquire powers(transform into word, etc) to make your journey more fun. Plus after a certain level you really hone in on your class. Yes, there are classes.

Character customization is a thing.

Warning: I purchased the game and wasnt too impressed the first day. Not because its bad but because it doesnt hold your hand. So me, having a huge backlog just went, Squirrel! And played something else. But if you stick with it, do some reading, and figure it out then youll enter the phase I am in now. Absolutely loving it. My only advice is to watch videos on castle building. I chose a PvP server road out past all the toughest mobs to reach a cliff side to put my castle on. I mean, it was very Castlevania-Esque. And then built my castle or so I thought. I didnt fortify it correctly, and returned to the game with me dead and some bitch ass fuck building his castle on my cliff. Upsetting but then I found another location nearby where I built my castle. This one being more Bram Stokers Dracula kind of scenery for my castle. And you know what, thats okay. I like it, too. But Im sure you guys will agree Castlevanias Castle locale is unmatched.
