Tetris's story wouldn't even be a thing if Pong didn't build the blueprint. Tetris was convoluted with too many characters as well. Now games are still ripping off Pong. The Last of Us 2 is basically just the story of Pong but overdramatized.

Typically this, but that's because the writing and story have to fit within the gameplay and level design, so it's more restricted.

It is definitely the most diverse medium, for sure. But it has its limitations like every other artistic medium.

Books, TV, movies, music, video games, etc. are all the best at one particular thing. It ultimately comes down to personal preference.

Not enough of the psychological effects of the medium are considered. There's a level of investment you get merely by controlling a character.
