what i find annoying/amusing about this whole thing is so ur telling me u found the rest of this comedian's material fine but he moment they make fun of the trans community it's not acceptable? comedy doesn't discriminate and while yes some topics like say.. mocking some1 recently deceased is generally very bad taste it's ridiculous that the trans community is so freaking thin skinned that they can't take a joke i mean what makes them so special that ppl aren't allowed to make jokes about them like ppl do about black ppl asians latinos gay ppl etc etc

saying ur not ok w/ ur own culture being mocked is hypocritical as hell if ur fine w/ jokes mocking other cultures and such.... yes ur welcome to not like said jokes but raising a massive stink about it is a tad much

I watched the entire special right now. Tbh it wasn't really all that offensive (imo of course) but it also wasn't very funny. I can see why someone would get offended but the jokes were kinda weak on both the funny and the irreverence.

I'm super sick of comedians taking half a special or a whole special to defend themselves or explaining jokes and that was like 80% of this special.

I just watched it last night.

I thought the first 20 minutes was pretty good. If anything, his "jokes" were more a critique on how we are letting the most vocal 5% of people control the narrative on everything, when a majority of the population really doesn't give a shit, as long as you're a good person.

I also didn't see it as him defending himself, but more just defending the concept that comedy is subjective. A concept comedians have been defending basically since the first standup routine was performed.

I think one of the reasons Dave Chapelle caused such a stir is he didn't so much make Trans jokes as much as he just made some Anti-Trans comments. And he's usually a very funny guy so it came across more hostile to a group that's already picked on.

If Ricky is just like "lol trans ppl r dumb." then yeah he's in the same boat but the fact the article didn't even say the jokes makes me suspcious
