Ugly design, terrible ui. You guys gave up classic YT for this?!? Wtf is wrong with you? Plus, YT Shorts/TikTok, etc. are actively making us worse. We need to be reversing the trend of human attention span becoming shorter and shorter, not actively keep going this path. [LFAQs-redacted-quote] It sucks that TikTok had to become popular because people want to feel like they are special for rebelling against the mainstream (YouTube). TikTok is just not as good of an experience, literally lacks the diversity of YT in video lengths, so that's literally a downgrade. YT never hindered you from making short videos, but it also allows you to make 10 minute vids, 20 minute vids, or even video essays if you're down. Plus, YT actually has good ui on the vids themselves. People will actively choose a worse experience just to feel like they are "in" with the "cool" crowd. And as I said, TikTok is only accelerating humans towards a non-existent attention span, which is not a laughing matter. They wouldn't be that bad if they didn't have that godawful interface or start auto-playing. Anytime I see one that I might want to watch, I have to add it to Watch Later so I can view it like a normal video. Though that's just for the ones that were actually made to be 9:16.
