I had a couple ideas in my head and they're stuff I can't remember:

The first (1) is it was a robot detective, but it was a long time ago... I THINK it was from Metropolis, right?

The second (2) is energy shields/force fields - you used the shield as a weapon but shooting meant you didn't have the shield for a sec... I think it wasn't on Steam (at the time) it was an Xbox Live Arcade game IIRC

The third (3) is I remember people suffocating on a ship without life support, but they weren't freezing or low power or something, it was just the air... it wasn't star trek, wasn't total recall, wasn't farscape and turns out it wasn't firefly either... oh wells.

In Super Smash Bros Falco can use his reflector like a weapon. He throws it to one side and it does damage to anyone it hits. On the down side, it's less effective as a shield since it only works while he's throwing it.

Fox has the same reflector, but he keeps it centered on himself so it can only hit an enemy at point-blank range, but he can maintain it indefinitely. Wolf's reflector looks different but works mostly the same as Fox's.

nah... it had better graphics (:D).. the shield in shield form was circular (globalur?), but it was indeed blue, and it was made up of, like, dots. It's actally the dot pattern that's in my memory the most

There's been quite a few in fiction. Like, a lot.

Here's the first two that leapt to mind for me, though:

This could be almost literally anything.

First thing that came to mind for me was Stargate: Universe though.

You're not thinking of Blade Runner are you? They left it open whether Deckard is a human or a replicant.

probably not but makes me think of the "leaf shield" in Mega Man 2 from Wood Man.

My memory (alpha) is hazy, so it's possible I'm mixing elements of Star Trek TNG's Angel One and Firefly's Out of Gas

another one I thought of could be Galaxy Quest. If I recall, there's a roomful of aliens dying from suffocation in a locked room for way longer than makes sense. they're flapping about on the verge of death and then minutes later... they're still flapping about on the verge of death.

There was a Japanese show literally called Robot Detective (Robotto keiji), but it looks like it was live action.

Yes. He is referred to as Pero by Shunsaku Ban, though robots do not have human names.

Is it possible you're thinking of Avengers: Endgame? This happens at the beginning of the film.

I'm reasonably sure 1 was Metropolis and that 3 was an amalgamation of multiple TV episodes

For 2, what's clear is that the shield is blue, it's a circle, and has white (or light blue) dots... and you shoot the dots out
