Not much wider than opening a door normally would, and that would be wider longer because the door doesn't move above the car like it does with the gull wing design. Again, the problem isn't the mechanics of it, it is the fact that doors are essentially two hatchback trunks that need to open and close constantly, which causes them to fail pretty quickly in the car's life. Hell, the trunk on my first hatchback car had to have the mechanism replaced 8 years in, these could need replacing in half that time. --- After 16 years, I have decided my signature will NOT be about my job!
