It certainly is a game

Do you not have phones?

So far it feels like they really could not decide whether they wanted to make a phone based game

Like it has all the hallmarks of a game where you grind free resources and doing short little instanced runs through relatively small maps, so the gameplay works well for short play sessions.

But at the same time theyre trying to do the plot/story/dialogue comparable to a PC or console game and that doesnt really work on a mobile device so well

I love the Ni No Kuni games and that new mobile ad jeeps taunting me but I don't play mobile games because I end up spending hundreds of dollars for shit.

And they kinda suck if you don't pay so I don't play. Still... that game has even more catboys and girls than just Evan and his little town. It's very tempting. I love that art style.

It really speaks volumes about how much money these companies are able to exploit out of people with loot boxes that it's more profitable to just not release the game at all in regions where they can't have loot boxes, rather than replacing them with regular microtransactions (which are pretty lucrative in their own right).

Apparently at end game you need to evolve your gear and it's 15 bucks a piece? For 6 pieces. So 90 bucks if you want to play.

Personally I hope all loot boxes are banned for real monetary purchase. I love loot boxes, just not buying them with real money. Random prize boxes bought with in-game earned is way more fun.

I think taking money from people they way they do damages public welfare and should he prohibited. There should be a cap on how much a single player can spend.

I wish more console games had loot boxes, but only ones you get from having fun earning in-game tickets and such.

Of course the minute you take away their money, all loot boxes end. And they go home pouting all the way because daddy won't be able to buy that yacht he wanted and rent the IG girls for international waters.

And I'm sure that option is as miserably grindy as they could possibly make it without immediately turning everyone away.

Remember, when game companies offer microtransactions to let you "skip the grind," they're selling you a solution to a problem they and they alone created. That's not an act of generosity, no matter how hard they try to frame it as such.

Nah, the news worthy part is that governments are starting to agree. And instead of self-reflection, they just skip those countries. Makes me wonder what happens once a country that actually represents a large market changes their gambling laws.

People are saying minimum of $75-100k for one fully upgraded character. To grind to the same point apparently it would take a few years of play time if you get insanely lucky with gem rng.

Blizzard has it backwards, you shouldn't be forcing people to grind to add armor to your character; you should be forcing them to grind to REMOVE armor.

Make the nude set the most expensive armor in the game, and the best. That will make you way more money.

I wish nudity wasn't as a big a deal anymore. It was creeping that way in the 70s and then it retracted. Seems like it retracted again recently.

I expect "fully upgraded" is nowhere close to necessary for any of the game's content and the option mostly exists to make lesser options seem more reasonably priced by comparison. That's not uncommon in these pricing schemes.

I stopped playing the game due to it being really boring

most enemies you come across are in a group of like 3-5

you spend most of the time traveling across the maps looking for ANY enemies to fight or chests to open, and it just feels like a chore

I'm shocked that a loot box game made by Acti-Blizz would be extremely boring to play, almost as if by design so you can pay them money to "skip the grind" or something. Shocked, I tell you!

I miss being upset about Horse Armour. I mean, I was personally never really that upset, because that was clearly optional content that was easy to skip for anyone that didn't think it was worthwhile, but having overpriced DLC be the biggest controversy in gaming was so nice compared to the modern world of manipulating children into gambling away thousands dollars of their parents' money and people just giving up on being upset about it because it's become so banal.

Well, it didn't help at the time, randos were pumping out better dlc via the builder toolkit the dev put with the PC version and giving that dlc/mods away from free.

Some of the unofficial dlc for thief 2 was the shit. Literally better graphics than the game. Somehow. That was a big first back then.

That's part of why I didn't really care about Horse Armour. It was stupid, yeah, but it wasn't like that was the only way to make cosmetic changes to your horse (in stark contrast to cosmetic DLC in countless other games even just a few years later), so I was perfectly content to say "that's stupid, I'm not buying it" instead of getting as upset as many did.

Really, I've never been that bothered by DLC as a concept. If done right (which isn't as rare as many like to think), it's a chance to buy more of a game I like, which I consider to be a good thing. Yes, there are countless examples of games being stripped down to barebones experiences for anyone that doesn't buy the DLC, but even then, I'm fine to just not buy games that I don't think are going to be worth the sticker price regardless of why I think that.
