i used to enjoy fishing when i was a kid and when i was a teen in the 1990s. Enjoyed the time trying to catch a fish or two but at the same time it was a waste of time waiting for an hour or so to get something

plus a waste of money buying tackles, hooks, fake worms and whatever else you need for a fishing rod

Took my kids fishing this morning we took part in a kids fishing derby but there were some legit anglers there and we didn't even come close to winning a prize

I used to, but after watching cute baby animal videos on social media for years, I can't bring myself to hurt them anymore. We went crabbing and fishing a few years ago on the Eastern Shore at this fancy house on the water we rented. I got all upset seeing minnows die in a bucket. Both my girlfriend and my Mom said I was getting too soft.

I'm gonna really have to turn on my dark side when the world goes to shit if I wanna survive.

No, I'm not comfortable killing animals unnecessarily unless it's a dangerous creature like a mosquito.

I've gone canoeing before, that was fun. First time was at night during a period where plankton thrive, so the water around the boat and paddles lit up, and the second time was in the evening, to watch bats come out over the water.

Hate it, always have. Was probably a disappointment to my dad in that respect, because he always loved fishing yet could never get me to like it. Though to be fair, I generally wound up hating or being apathetic to most things he liked (camping, hunting, working on cars, etc), so fishing might have been one of the lesser annoyances.

He did get me into sci-fi and fantasy though, so he at least managed to ruin my life by turning me into a huge nerd by way of revenge.

Not currently. I want to be again, but... it's kind of hard when you don't live by yourself, and other people in the house have certain dietary needs and you all share meals. >_>

No, my dad liked to Fish, so I've done it a few times and I was always bored by it. Dad owned a boat for awhile, but he generally just preferred to fish in our back yard since our backyard had waterfront access to Boca Ciega Bay

I like fishing even if I dont catch anything since to me its all about the peace and quiet, catching a fish is just a bonus. Time away from the world is something I value and it makes me sad that its been years since I last fished. Nothing like the sound of the water and a couple of drinks to calm my nerves.

No. I've been twice, but never saw the appeal.

Part of that is probably because I've lived almost all of my life in calm, quiet, relatively rural surroundings (and my current house is seaside), so the whole "peace and quiet and enjoying nature" isn't really a novel experience for me, given that I can get that in my backyard any time I want.

I loved going fishing with ma mom when I was a kid, we'd get up at like 4am and dig up worms

But, I never had the heart to kill/clean a fish so I stopped. But I do like 'going' fishing, and with my new camera I can take sports shots of people catching fish

You can kill two birds with one stone with fishing. Try to catch fish while relaxing and being out in nature. I haven't fished in years and only tried a couple times but I love being by the water to just relax and pray/think and so I definitely am not against fishing.

Rev, you seem like many days you're just having a bad day. I wish I could make you feel better. Maybe if everyone gave you a hug you'd cheer up.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I hope your life gets better and you get whatever makes you happy.

This is my happy place. The deer are friendly here. You can stay here if you wish.

Tall enough to bellow a good long "holy fuck" as one plummets to their death.... or into a really nice cannonball.

This is actually a pretty good summary of why I always hated fishing.

For starters, sitting around and hoping to catch something isn't as enjoyable as actually accomplishing something for me. And also, nature is horrible in every way and should be destroyed.

If it was a hobby where you could do it inside a pest-free climate-controlled room inside, where the fish themselves were little hygienic robots with no gunk or mess, and you were guaranteed to catch a fish every few minutes, I'd probably have been much more interested in it.

Come to think of it, this might be why I'm perfectly fine with most fishing minigames in video games (and I've been doing quite a bit of it in Stardew Valley). It eliminates most of the things I actually dislike about fishing.
