Man, I hate built in batteries. I was so nervous at every moment that I was gonna break something. Super don't have money to replace it so it was kinda high stakes. Honestly, taking the back off might've been the worst part but mostly 'cause I'm super impatient and had to fight myself to slow down the entire time. Luckily the battery inflating had popped it off a good bit or it'd have never gotten done... though I guess had it not it would've have needed to be done so yeah...

And now I've made this topic because I'm proud of myself for not screwing it up and wanted to talk/brag about it.

Nice work. I always feel like I'll miss putting something back properly and have something else not work.

Totally. All those tiny little screws...

And it took me forever to get the fingerprint thingy connected again and it was so annoying 'cause I don't even use the fingerprint scanner so I don't care if it's connected. But I didn't want to turn on the phone and have it not work because everything wasn't put together right. So I had to keep fiddling with that all the while worried I had screwed up somewhere else or forgotten to connect this or that right.

depending on how you did it, the phone might not be water resistant anymore

if it had that, anyways, idfk what phone you have

That's fair but for however many years I've had a phone it hasn't been an issue so far (never even dropped a phone let alone in water). So fingers crossed it continues that way.

Plus the battery had expanded and pushed open the back cover (the glass? cover of the S8+) so I think that was probably out the window anyway. And on top of that it was already a refurbished replacement so who knows what happened before I got it.

Yeah, I did my S8+ battery and the back is the worst bit. I actually cracked the glass on one of the corners of the back a bit when I did it. Didn't really hurt anything but it was always vaguely annoying when I saw it.

Those corners are a nightmare with how it bends at the sides. I saw a bunch of articles say that the glass is super flimsy so I was doing my best to be careful but there were a few times I was worried I was gonna snap it. But the phone's in a case so I wasn't too concerned if it was something minor and I think replacement covers are not too expensive if I had to go that route.
