We're having a bunch of remodel work done at one of our locations. Part of that was moving a bunch of wireless access points to new locations. The company decided to work with a new contract company to move the APs.

They did the work yesterday, but a bunch of them weren't working. Turns out the contractors didn't read our instructions about plugging the network cable into eth0 instead of eth1. When they're on eth1 and left alone, they create network loops, so we shut them down.

Fast forward to today, the contractors said they fixed them all. I turned the ports back on and all the ones that were on the wrong port are still on the wrong port. What the hell

Now we're just having one of our guys do the work instead. I wonder if they're gonna decide to use these contractors again. There's really no reason to lie about this. People make mistakes. Just correct it and move on. Sheesh.

I'm not sure why/how you picked that name, but my old job hired a Ralph as the director of IT operations and I can totally see him lying about something like this.

at one of our schools, the contractors ignored the ethernet length specs so theres a bunch of wires in the wall that are waaaaay too long and therefore, are fucked in terms of bandwidth.

so they gotta go in and replace them all to the correct length or whatever.
