She went to get her covid booster and this dumb ass pharmacist convinced her to get the flu and shingles vaccine at the same time this morning. So now shes having chest pain on both sides that is affecting the back of her legs and her back now too.

Shes 65 years old and just got diagnosed with COPD and diabetes. I know its okay to get the booster and flu vaccine at the same time, but fuck not shingles. The booster already puts your body into distress as it is, but not in the same day.

Im worried.

Doctors fuck up way more than people on the outside like to perceive. Plus all those propaganda doctor shows making them look like geniuses.

I hope she's ok. I know Ive felt close to death many times in my life and Im still here.

after the situation resolves itself. call up either corporate or the pharmacist and rip em a new one for what they did.

Is it? CVS made my dad schedule those on different days, and then they still almost fucked up and gave him an extra covid booster instead of the Flu shot.

As someone whos managed multiple pharmacies, let me tell you that pharmacists fuck up A LOT. Oh, and theres a good chance the pills you got were expired if theyre not really common. Pharmacists hardly ever pull out of dates unless someone comes in and forces them too.

Fair. I fucked up. But, I also have experience with Doctors and was pulling from that without putting it into the right context. There's also a lot of doctors worth respecting. But they shouldn't get it from just becoming a doctor.

Let's just say, I don't have a galbladder because of being misdiagnosed.

they do doctorate programs these days, not like when my family went through years ago. Just depends how anal you want to be about 'doctor'. Also I don't know if all the different boards did things differently, but at least locally people who were already pharmacists didn't have to do anything extra when the program changed, so also depends what pharmacist you get

Fair enough, and I do agree, I've had some questionable experiences with doctors. I've had way more positive experiences.

In the context I was talking I was referring to an MD. PhDs and Doctorate holders are in fact Doctors. Just not Medical Doctors which is what I meant.
I'm not that anal about the term. Anyone willing to put that amount of effort in can be called whatever they want.

With few exceptions, there really isn't an upper limit to the amount of vaccines you can receive at a single visit.

^This is what's going to be higher up on the differential at the hospital. Live and inactivated vaccines can be given on the same day.

The hospital is going to keep her over night. Her EKG looked good. With her living alone this is for the best.

I was told she could walk, but her arms kept locking up on her.

She should sue. We trust these people to be fairly professional and make the right calls on their end, and if one of them can't, for them not to wing it but to double check with someone who can, or to not do it at all for everyone's safety.

Hope she's okay.

Sue for what? Multiple vaccines can be given together and the science supports that.

at least in the case of the covid/flu vaccine combo.

Not sure about shingles per se but I had both covid and flu vac in December at the same time and my only malady was that the flu shot rather hurt, lol

The shingles vaccine has a reputation of putting you on your butt for a bit same as the covid vaccine. Its irritating a pharmacist would ever think thats an okay combo to give at the same time to an older person. The women works 16 hours a day 5 days a week between 2 jobs and now shes in the hospital because she thought she was having a severe allergic reaction.

They made a really dumb recommendation. I work in the health field and know you dont combine those two vaccines for anyone.

She went there for only the covid booster, nothing else. They recommended the others on top of it.

So its absolutely fine to give someone multiple vaccines at the same time that are known to have adverse reactions? Like I know its generally safe according to the CDC, but youre failing to understand that people sometimes have adverse reactions and it shouldnt be recommended with shingles as Ive stated. Why youre so bent on being incentive while my mom is in the hospital Ive no clue.

Were all sad to hear what happened to your mother in law and hope she recovers fast, but you shouldnt blame this situation on the pharmacist and you absolutely shouldnt complain to him or his company, potentially ruining his career, for doing nothing wrong.
