That was my logic also. At least one or two hundred children would suddenly have a loaded gun in their hands. Probably a lot of them would be disarmed immediately, but certainly not all. Also, if the gun magically materializes in their hands, they may see it as a call to action from some sort of higher power that they should go enforce their delusions. Could be really bad.
