94% of the time his plots/scenes where irrelevant to everyone else in the show.

Kind of like that part in Twin Peaks where James leaves the Town after being in a love Triangle and then just instantly gets involved in another love triangle in another town for no reason

Don't misunderstand me. I'm not complaining.

It just seemed like "Shit this episode is running 5 minutes short. Let's have Francis enter an eating contest or go live in a shack!"

I like the one where he eats 100 gummy bears or whatever, and then vomits and and everyone around him starts counting backwards

Yeah I don't know why several users have been saying this or why they think it's weird.

Francis was the eldest brother and it showed what would happen to the rest if they followed in his path of rebelliousness.

Also a show focusing on different parts is how an ensemble works... yes even in a comedy. Heck even The Office had Jim in another the office doing the office stuff

Usually they interact with each other.

It would be like if Simpsons and Family guy were the same show and for 4/5 minutes in every simpsons episode they cut to Peter Simpson doing something irrelevant in another town

It was just kind of odd.

My problem with Francis was that they had two seasons where he finally matured into a more-or-less responsible adult, only to suddenly throw it all away halfway through Season 6 when it was revealed that he got fired by the ranch and was being sued by them over an ATM mishap, and then he basically remains a loser for the rest of the series.

I think it was because of the actor who played Francis wanting to do more behind the scenes stuff

The actor who played the german boss character got cancer I believe
