Honestly KH4 is the most surprising. We had to wait an entire console generation in between 2 and 3. All the ps3 got was remasters.

Endwalker 6.2, the next part of the story has just been announced. People in the community are super hyped, especially with what got teased in 6.1.

Edit: And also its MUCH earlier than what a lot of people anticipated. With a lot more content than just story.

What do we know about FFXVI so far?

Looks to be open world or open zone-design, I think characters become their summons and boss fights essentially become grand-scale kaiju battles. And of course regular combat is DMC-like.

With how much of a banger Remake was I'm heavily hyped for Rebirth. And Ever Crisis is a really cool concept, a straight remake of the original FFVII like people originally wanted + the entire Compilation. I just wish it wasn't an episodic mobile game. Willing to give it a shot though.

Only thing I ever heard was when they said prior to 6.0 that they were looking to improve the system. Which I took to mean nothing until next expansion.

I'm interested in it, but the fact that it's episodic makes me a bit concerned. I have no doubt they won't change any of the story because that's what the Remake project is for. But with it being episodic they most likely will do stuff like cut out the open world. I'm really hoping it is just straight up the original FFVII with remade graphics and touched up dialogue.

The way more interesting part for me is how they're translating Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core into this kind of gameplay format.

We saw some Crisis Core gameplay already in it, with Zack in the battle system.

I have played damn near every F2P square Enix mobile game and every single one of them is P2W. Some are more F2P friendly than others but they all have P2W shit.

And if it's not p2w, it's a fucking slog. I played Brave Exvius years ago, and I remember having to put my game on an emulator running trash quests basically 24/7 for weeks because I had to use characters something like 1000 times for some kind of powerup unlock. Like, holy shit, dude.

1000 times. On a timed stamina system where it takes 5 minutes to get one stamina point, and all the fun quests cost like 20 or more.

Which, considering you could instantly refill stamina with monopoly money crystals... yeah, is still more or less pay to win.

Square Enix has earned absolutely no benefit of the doubt. Every single monetization scheme they've cone up with has taken the damn piss, and it's telling that the only games of theirs people seem to like are the ones that barely monetize, if at all.

Believe me I'm all for shitting on Square Enix, but aside from KH4 and DQ12 all of these are currently slated to release this year or next year.

Now I don't think FF7 Remake Part 2 will make it, but the rest I think will.
