I mean, the first thing you do is wake up from being stabbed in the face... then you meet a girl who wants to kill~~kidnap the president, then you hang out in a graveyard to rob a dead student, then you get tortured by an upper-classman, then you participate in a school shooting... Me too, man. Tifa's card is selling for the most on Steam. She's at about 60 cents and everyone else is hovering around 30 cents.

Calling it now, Rebirth is going to end at Northern Crater, then Part 3 is going to be all about fighting WEAPON and the big push for the marketting is you're going to be participating in big kaiju battles.

I know the Weapons arent really mechanized, but I wish we could infiltrate it from within and it acts like a mini dungeon.

I love the original game "Final Fantasy VII" and nothing at all related to it.

You've just described a dungeon/boss fight in FFIV.

If anything, they probably wouldn't do that with the Weapons in FFVII because they'd already done it with the Giant of Babel previously.

Also it's worth noting that the Extreme raids in FFXIV Shadowbringers were Ruby, Emerald and Diamond Weapons, so we might have already seen their redesigns.

Edit: Their stories had nothing to do with their FF7 counterparts though. In XIV they're built by the Garlean Empire to replace Ultima Weapon.

Is it the best JRPG of its generation? Absolutely. Is it one of the best games of all time? Probably.

chrono trigger's gameplay was slow as fuck and really basic, it was entirely carried by the art direction, music, and nostalgia

That's what happens when you let your own success make you arrogant to the point where you piss off literally every third party developer you deal with, and suddenly there's an alternative they can go with and tell you to go fuck yourself.

For bonus irony points, the alternative only exists in the first place because you pissed off the people who were literally making it for you.

umm, I bought Chrono Trigger when it was new and it was good. It didn't have much competition that year which helped cement it.

Chrono Trigger is the best RPG of all time, no contest.

I played Chrono Trigger in high school one summer when I went on a huge SNES JRPG binge and I never found the appeal when directly compared to all the other games I was playing. bahamut lagoon and seiken densetsu 3/trials of mana tho? that shit was godlike

Chrono Trigger was one of the first games I ever played and thought it was the best since then. Not sure how nostalgia plays a part. It was essential in shaping what a JRPG is.

I'm not sure about Bahamut Lagoon, but SD3 definitely did not exist and neither did Terranigma.

i played chrono trigger for the first time a couple of years ago (ergo no attached nostalgia). it was definitely fun with a solid combo combat system but i wouldn't put it in the pantheon of best rpgs. for me the world itself felt pretty sterile and ive always disliked toriyamas art style. music is fantastic tho.

i didn't play chrono trigger until at least a decade after it came out. i absolutely loved it for what it was. no, it wasn't perfect, but the concept was great (and done better than most alternatives), the music was amazing, and i loved the characters. frog was my dude and lucca was bae. plus i kinda lowkey wanted the snu snu from ayla.
