do you consider it to be more upscale than walmart, target, kohl's? for example? This is making huge news cause amber heard shopped there etc......

TJ Maxx is definitely not upscale at all.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Amber Heard told TMZ she was going to be shopping there and staged getting caught on film doing it.

As far as "the resale stores" here is the tier as far as upscale-ness:

you consider it middle of the road? this tj maxx was in the hamptons. And , how do you think it compares to the other clothes places i listed before?

I would rank it below Kohl's, honestly. It's a discount store that just sells random pieces of clothing and assorted "gift shop" type items.

I used to work there back in 2006 and I hated it.

Probably heavily depends on where that specific location gets its inventory from. They just get leftover crap from nearby malls.

It has become trendy. Like shopping at second hand stores in the 90s.

It's not upscale at all. It's known for its sales and relatively low prices. I shop there lol.

They have pretty good prices on designer stuff.

I remember when I started working there... They said they wouldn't put me on returns until I was familiar with the store. They put me on returns on day 5, lol. They got mad at me for returning an item they've never sold.

Me: Do we have a list of items or common brands that we've sold in the past?
Manager: No
Me: How was I supposed to know we never sold that item? I've only been here 5 days.
Manager: That's a good question. We should probably have something like that.

I just shrugged and walked away because I didn't care and wasn't getting paid much any way.

well amber heard's tj maxx was in the hamptons. you dudes surprised there was a tj in a place as tony as the hamptons? that's like beverly hills, right?

Middle of the road is right, maybe the Hamptons locations gets some better stuff, but the reason people shop there, myself included, is because its cheap/relatively cheap.

Theres lots of cheap/lower quality stuff there if you need something now, and once in a while if you can be patient and wait you find some nicer stuff. TJ Maxx and Marshalls are owned by the same corporation. For my area, the Marshalls is usually better than the two TJ Maxxes that are near me.

Its better than Walmart and Target, IMO, unless you need groceries or the pharmacy. Id say it depends on the Kohls location, but as a whole Id take TJ Maxx/Marshalls over Kohls. Kohls, being a department store, does have a base stock of stuff that is always there while stores like TJ Maxx it depends on what they get.

Again, IMO, and based on the mens selections. My mom and sister prefer stores like Marshalls, but there are a few women at my job that rave about Kohls.

I've been to the one in the Hamptons. It's not the super rich East Hampton part of the Hamptons. It's the more basic upper class part in Bridgehampton.

The ones in and around NYC and Long Island are pretty good, well, The Marshalls at least. Basically last season's stuff on the cheap.

It probably sucks in other parts of the country.
