just finished the grand Budapest hotel for the first time in a couple years. It really is so good. One of his more complete films with an actual satisfying ending

but its definitely Rushmore for me. Amazing start to finish.

the French dispatch was really good too.

I watch a lot of movies, and have seen none of these. Maybe whatever wins i'll try.

I have only see some of those but I really liked Isle of Dogs. Not enough people talk about that movie

Wes Anderson movies are those kinds of movies where you can watch ten minutes of and be like this is a Wes Anderson movie

I need to watch them all again, and I haven't seen Isle of Dogs or Bottlerocket. But my instinct was to vote for The Grand Budapest Hotel, it's such a lovely movie.

Have only seen about half of them: Life Aquatic, Moonrise Kingdom, Isle of Dogs, Grand Budapest, and French Dispatch.

Of those, Isle of Dogs is probably my favorite with Grand Budapest Hotel a close second.

Bottlerocket is good to see his first film, but Rushmore and the royal tenenbaums shits on it so hard its hardly worth watching

isle of dogs is amazing though

Life aquatic was one of my least favorite of his. Its just kinda.. boring. Its missing the humor of the other movies.

I think Moonrise Kingdom is the only one I've seen.

Tough. Probably Tenenbaums, but also love Life Aquatic, Moonrise, and Budapest (well, love em all but those are tops)

I generally don't like his movies, but I thought that The Fantastic Mr. Fox and Grand Budapest Hotel were great.

The Royal Tenembaums. Followed closely by Rushmore. I have seen each of the movies on this list and none of the others come close for me.

Moonrise Kingdom.

I do not think I have ever seen any of their movies before.

The French Dispatch wasn't very critically acclaimed but I absolutely loved it.

Either The Darjeeling Limited or The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Out of what I've seen (Bottle Rocket, Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic, Moonrise Kingdom, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Grand Budapest), I think I've got to give it to Grand Budapest. The quaint little pre-WWII fantasy-European setting really clicked with me, and was perfect for Anderson's patented brand of intricate filmmaking (and the soundtrack fit the setting perfectly). The deliberate incongruity of most of the cast speaking with American accents was icing on the cake.

It's weird, because one of the defining features of his movies (at least imo) is his well-rounded cast of characters, but GBH is carried much more definitively on Ralph Fienne's back (not to say that the supporting cast in GBH isn't great, but Fiennes is inarguably the star and scene-stealer throughout). It's pretty rare that the main character in a movie / show is my favorite, but M. Gustave is easily my favorite character out of any Wes Anderson movie. It's not exactly an original premise, but I love when refined, well-read characters occasionally sprinkle in vulgarity when they've got nothing better to say.

I don't always find his stuff that amazing, but I think Rushmore is a great and hilarious movie.

Id suggest you watch the French dispatch, Isle of dogs, Rushmore, and the royal tenenbaums and then youre good. You can check out life aquatic if you want but I feel like for people who have actually seen the rest of them, theyll realize its really not that strong. The Darjeeling limited is goodish too. Id say slightly better than life aquatic and bottlerocket.

When I was 12 or 13 I tried so hard to go to this catholic school because I was in love with this girl from elementary school and my parents were like lmao bro were poor as fuck

so I never got that part of it

still my favorite though because the story is so.. cringey, yet relatable, yet cringey.

I went to catholic private school from a private donor (long story) and I swear every catholic school is the same ...everybody I talk to who has gone to one has the same stories and psychological complexes and neurosis

I cant imagine liking the Darjeeling limited more than Rushmore or the royal tenenbaums or grand Budapest or even the French dispatch

it and rushmore are the only ones i really liked.

Grand Budapest is a flawless film.

this scene is the reason i got into elliott smith in the first place. it's all connected for me

Ill admit its a pretty safe pick but mine is Moonrise Kingdom. Grand Budapest Hotel and Fantastic Mr. Fox round out my top 3, although I havent yet settled on a spot for The French Dispatch, so it may be in contention there as well.

Yeah I remember catching some of those movies on TV but as a teen I didn't really get or care for Wes's style until years later when it clicked for me and I really love the style now, including parodies and homages

So we'll see if I end up like those movies before fantastic mr fox
